Queen Atticus Special Reserve
The Story: Merfs prides itself on making connections through collaborations, so when Gabe Toth, lead distiller at The Family Jones, wrote in to ask us if we wanted to age our hot sauce in their whiskey barrels, the answer was ABSOLUTELY. The Merfs’ team took a field trip to The Family Jones distillery in Longmont, Colorado, and we were surprised with spirit samples and a full tour of the operations. We selected two barrels: each 30 gallon Cooper’s Select, American Oak, Char 3, that had been used to age Atticus Jones Rye Whiskey. Atticus Jones hits the palate with dark cherry, malt, and molasses, and finishes with warming cacao and baking spice. Those are flavors fit for a Queen.
On November 13 at 9:40a, we filled these barrels with Dancing Queen, a hot sauce that’s slightly smoky, deliciously peppery, and very fiery. We aged Queen Atticus for 6 months, and it’s a marriage of flavors so exquisite that your tastebuds will surely burst. We’re doing a one time only, limited-run of this fiery treat, and once we’re out, it’s gone forever. Crown yourself with this royal elixir that’s fit for any dinner party.
